Let's work together

I'm a screenwriter and tutor with broad experience in both professional writing and film education. Since 2016, I was the Head of Studies at the Icelandic Film School, after several years leading the Screenwriting & Directing Department.

Alongside my teaching, I write professionally for both series and feature films. My produced features include City State, Polite People, and Brave Men's Blood, which have screened internationally, including at Rotterdam. The remake rights to one of my films were bought by James Mangold's production company.

I'm currently commissioned as a writer in four TV series writers' rooms. I also work as a screenwriting consultant, TV series fixer — brought into writers' rooms to rebuild a series' engine — external examiner, and advisor in quality reviews for film schools.

In recent years, I've delivered guest lectures, workshops, and masterclasses in screenwriting at schools and festivals internationally. I also teach a story structure method I've developed called "Action Blocks," presented at events such as the Reykjavik International Film Festival (RIFF), Festival du nouveau cinéma, and others.

I'm always open to opportunities for:
Guest lecturing
Workshops & masterclasses
Screenwriting consultancy

Where can I work

I’m based in the European Union and happy to collaborate on projects, lectures, and workshops anywhere in Europe or beyond. Within the EU, I can work freely, and for the UK or other non-EU countries, I can easily come in for short-term workshops or guest teaching as an external contractor.

I’ve taught and mentored writers in many different settings - from film schools and festivals to professional development programmes - and I enjoy adapting each session to fit the needs of the group.

I usually handle my own travel and accommodation, so bringing me in for a session or workshop is simple and flexible.

How to work with me outside the EU

🇬🇧 United Kingdom

I can visit for workshops, guest lectures and some consultancy under the UK visitor rules for invited professionals. The institution should issue a formal invitation and confirm that the planned activity qualifies before booking.

🇨🇭 Switzerland

I can teach or consult for short periods under the Swiss notification system for EFTA nationals. The Swiss institution normally completes the notification before the engagement begins.

🇱🇮 Liechtenstein

Short workshops, lectures and consultancy may be possible through the EEA short-stay system. The host institution should confirm whether a notification or permit is required before dates are agreed.

🇺🇸 United States

I can attend conferences, consultations and certain invited academic engagements. Some universities can also pay a short-term honorarium, but broader workshops or consultancy may require a work-authorised visa.

🇨🇦 Canada

Short speaking engagements, seminars and some workshops may be possible without a full work permit. The host should confirm whether the engagement qualifies under the business visitor or public-speaker rules.

🇦🇺 Australia

I can attend conferences and seminars as a business visitor. Paid workshops, lectures or consultancy normally require a short-term work visa supported by the Australian host.

🇳🇿 New Zealand

I can visit for limited business and conference activities. Paid workshops or teaching will usually require a Specific Purpose Work Visa supported by the host institution.

🇯🇵 Japan

Paid teaching, workshops and consultancy require an appropriate work-authorised status. The Japanese host will normally need to support the visa and immigration paperwork.

🇸🇬 Singapore

Some short workshops, talks and training sessions can use Singapore’s work-pass-exempt system. The host must register the engagement in advance or sponsor a short-term work pass where required.

🇰🇷 South Korea

Paid lectures, masterclasses and consultancy normally use the C-4 short-term employment visa. The Korean institution must provide the invitation and supporting documents.

🇲🇽 Mexico

I can deliver paid workshops, lectures or consultancy when the Mexican host arranges the correct immigration permission. The institution will normally need to provide a formal offer or invitation.

🇭🇰 Hong Kong

Unpaid talks with expenses covered may be possible as a visitor. Paid workshops, lectures or consultancy will normally require the host to arrange an employment visa.

🇹🇼 Taiwan

Paid teaching, workshops and consultancy normally require a business visa and work permit. The Thai institution should arrange the appropriate authorisation before confirming the booking.

🇹🇭 Thailand
Film festivals and universities frequently invite international speakers for short visits. A Non-Immigrant B or Business Visitor visa usually suffices for short workshops.

🇦🇪 United Arab Emirates

I can deliver short workshops, lectures and consultancy when the UAE host arranges a temporary or mission work permit. The institution normally handles the sponsorship process.

🇶🇦 Qatar

Paid workshops, lectures and consultancy require advance approval arranged by the host institution. The organisation should confirm both the work-permission and payment requirements before booking.

🇿🇦 South Africa

Short paid engagements can normally use a visitor visa with temporary work authorisation. The host should provide the invitation and supporting information for the application.

🇧🇷 Brazil

Short professional engagements may be possible, but the Brazilian host must confirm the correct visa or work-authorisation route. The invitation and payment structure should be agreed in advance.

🇦🇷 Argentina

Workshops, lectures and consultancy may be possible with the appropriate temporary authorisation. The Argentine institution should confirm the correct process before the engagement is booked.

🇨🇱 Chile

I can undertake short paid engagements after receiving authorisation to work during a temporary stay. The Chilean host should help arrange this before the activity begins.

🇮🇳 India

Conference attendance and paid teaching are treated differently. For workshops, lectures or consultancy, the Indian institution should confirm the correct visa category before dates are agreed.

🇹🇷 Türkiye
Short workshops, lectures and consultancy may qualify for a work permit or work-permit exemption. The Turkish host should confirm the correct route before dates are finalised.
