Hi, I'm Hrafnkell Stefánsson - a screenwriter and educator with over 15 years in film and higher education.

I’ve written for both feature films and television, with my films screened at major festivals and released in theatres. I know how challenging it can be to wrestle a story into shape, and that’s why I’ve made it my work to help hundreds of writers strengthen their storytelling and find their creative voice.

I also consult for production companies and teach my original story method, Axtion Blocks, at festivals and film schools across Europe and North America  - giving writers practical tools to bring their stories to life.

The biggest hurdle new writers  face isn't story, plot, or dialogue. It's themselves.

It’s that inner voice whispering you’re not good enough, that convinces you to stop before you’ve really started. I used to believe that success and experience would make the insecurity disappear.

 

Nearly twenty years later, I’ve learned… it doesn’t.​


It’s easy to let doubt and overthinking slow you down.  The real challenge isn’t perfecting every sentence, it’s getting out of your own way - just long enough -  to finish what you started.​

 

That’s why I developed methods to push through - built on practical tools I still use today.

I use these methods and tools all the time, I’ve taught them to students, and now I’d like to share them here  - and talk openly and honestly about the writing process  - hoping they’ll help you spend more time on the fun part: creating stories.
